| Description: |
Bacillus clausii KSM-K16 is an alkaliphilic bacterium used for production of a high-alkaline protease (M-protease) used in laundry detergents. It grows as spore-forming motile rods, with cream-white colonies that form a filamentous margin. Growth was observed in the temperature range of 15-50 degrees C and from pH 7-10.5. Optimal growth was observed at 40 degrees C and pH 9.0 (adapted from PubMed 17429572). |
