The Proteome Informatics group is committed to various teaching activities. At the academic level, the PIG members collaborate in the graduate courses of the Master's Degree in Proteomics and Bioinformatics and in the postgraduate courses at the PhD school of the SIB. They continuously undertake courses in basic and specialized bioinformatics training carried out by proteomics partners. Some examples are:
The PIG group is also engaged in spreading bioinformatics knowledge via the Internet. GeneBio and PIG members have tightly collaborated to put up e-Proxemis, a web-based bioinformatics learning portal for proteomics. e-Proxemis will become soon the centralised educational platform for the ExPASy server hosted by the SIB. Access will be free for academics and available via subscription for non-academic people. e-Proxemis helps life scientists to master available bioinformatics resources essential for conducting proteomics research within their own workplace. Users progress, via their own personalized workspace, through increasingly demanding scenarios and case studies with access to a number of tutorials on a variety of resource tools and databases. Scientists can test their knowledge throughout the learning process and are consequently directed towards further scenarios, case studies and resources. New coursework is added on a regular basis, ensuring a reservoir of fresh data for future learning sessions.
